21 ноября – Всемирный день телевидения

The UN General Assembly established this holiday in honor of the First World Television Forum that was held on November 21, 1996. Not all of the people will probably celebrate it, as a good part of mankind, especially the independently-minded people would agree with Vladimir Vysotsky who defined TV set as “silly box for an idiot.” Others may agree with Robert Frost who referred to television as an invention “that allows the people whom one would not let in his/her house to entertain him/her in his/her sitting room.” There is a different point of view, however. “It is wrong that television weans people off of thinking. It just focuses their lack of ideas,” English journalist Malcolm Maggeridge said.
